Description: A rounded, moderately spired shell. Spiraly decorated by alternating thick and thin ridges which are seperated by reasonably deep grooves. There are also numerous, fine, laterl raised ridges. Externally grey to dark grey, spotted with numerous lilac to dark purple dots. Some shells possess an umbilicus and some shells do no. The aperture is slightly nacreous if reasonably fresh, otherwise grey. Typical size: L 12-22 mm, W 13 -23 mm.
