The Bahrain Science Center for SDGs was inaugurated in August 2018 and operates under the Ministry of Youth & Sport Affairs. The center aims to raise awareness about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and empower young people and adults to play an active role in having a positive impact on their local communities, country, and the world, the Bahrain Science Center for SDGs provides year-round interactive guided tours, workshops, talks, events & programs that provide the knowledge and tools to inspire, engage and enable people to drive change and contribute to achieving the SDGs.
It provides an interactive, fun and educational experience where visitors can experience an array of things! Whether it is experiencing a hurricane simulation, challenging a friend to a wheelchair race or walking through a safari or dive into the ocean depths through the 360/VR corner, visitors can discover different aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals through engaging with the various dynamic & hands on exhibits on all 3 floors of the center. The center also features a cinema that shows ongoing short films/animations about the different social and environmental challenges we face in the world today that are suitable for children & adults.
The role of the Bahrain Science Center for SDGs is to further create a responsible & solution- oriented generation that proactively takes sustainable action to help solve social, environmental and economic issues locally, regionally and globally.
Ghaya delivers a diverse range of programs and initiatives relating to social innovation with the aim of raising awareness, building capacity and developing a culture of social entrepreneurship and innovation mindset in Bahrain. The BSC also aims to support collaborative action on the SDGs in Bahrain, as well as driving action to further develop the ecosystem for social innovation & entrepreneurship in the Kingdom of Bahrain. As such, the Bahrain Science Center for SDGs has set out to create Ghaya – an ecosystem for science-driven social innovation and entrepreneurship. Ghaya works to support the social innovation community in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to catalyze collaboration between local actors from all sectors to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including social entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, academics, funders, civil servants, and young
The Ghaya ecosystem brings together change makers – who all share the common goal of creating the innovative, inclusive, and sustainable world envisioned in the Sustainable Development Goals. The Bahrain Science Center for SDGs aims to play a key role and act as a backbone organization for the Ghaya ecosystem in Bahrain that brings together all relevant stakeholders and partners. We at the Bahrain Science Center for SDGs look to support and drive solutions that are people and planet-centered, benefiting all communities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
