Rahma Al Eskafi

Rahma Aleskafi is a Nature based biologist and wildlife ecology enthusiast. She got her open water PADI diver licensed in 2019 and since then she has that special connection with the ocean and marine wildlife. Worked monitoring of mangrove birds during her study in university of Bahrain highlighting birds community structure, diversity and abundance. Participated in some of the ecological surveys of oyster beds under the water of Bahrain. She also conducted two citizen science projects with Bahrain science center recently in 2021. She is trying to understand the language of nature therefore speaking it out loud.

Contribution: Rahma Al Eskafi has contributed to bnature by (1) aiding in compiling a list of the horse-riding schools and green spaces in Bahrain; (2) aiding in compiling a list of the local farms, bee farms, thrift stores, dive centres, eco-friendly businesses, repair shops (3) communicating with relevant people for information on regenerative farming, aquaculture, hydroponics and Bahrain Science Center.

Jenan Al Saffar

Fresh biology graduate from university of Bahrain, An environmentalist, a lover of nature and a stargazer. Currently an active Manama shaper in the environment committee. Have been participating in many environmental activities including climate champions competition, organized by the British Council and higher education council, as well as an inter-college public speaking competition hosted by the Emirates Environmental Group. Interested in Unani medicine and utilizing food as therapy.

My name is Zainab Muhana and I am a Web Media Graduate and a freelancer (photographer). I aim to create and develop useful and creative content for the society in which it sends a clear message. Mohamed Ghassan Farija

Consultant

I’m an Environmental Specialist at Bapco and an environmental engineer by training. I graduated from Newcastle University with a master’s in environmental engineering in 2015 and from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2014 with bachelor's in mechanical engineering in 2014. After a brief stint in consultancy, I joined Bapco’s engineering department in 2016 before moving to the Bapco Modernization Program’s environmental team in 2017, where I still work. In late 2018, I published a book titled The Layman’s Guide To Climate Change, a climate change explainer targeted at the general public.

Contribution: Mohamed Ghassan Farija contributed to bnature by providing the information and knowledge on the sustainable energy scene in Bahrain, the air quality in Bahrain and aided in gathering information regarding climate change in Bahrain.

Director, Bahrain Science Center for SDGs (BSC)<br /> Ministry of Youth & Sport Affairs (MYS)<br /> With 10 years of experience in the fields of Social Impact, Youth Development and Program & experience design, Latifa currently manages the Bahrain Science Center for SDGs (BSC), represents the MYS on the National Committee of the UNDP Youth Leadership Programme, sits on the board of directors of AIESEC in Bahrain and is a co-founder of Ghaya, an ecosystem for science-driven social innovation and entrepreneurship, hosted by the BSC. In addition to working on cultivating spaces that foster growth, curating programs and designing experiences that support the development of young changemakers, she also works on driving collaborative action amongst organisations to accelerate their potential for impact and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and continues to grow the Social Entrepreneurship ecosystem in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sarah Al Sammak

Sarah Alsammak, founder of Cycling Bees the only female only cycling group in Bahrain. A full time cycling coach, only female cycling coach in Bahrain by British Cycling. Cycled in 4 continents with more than 16 medals. The first Arab girl to do Maratona Des Dolomites in Italian Alps in 2017, first girl from GCC to do GBI in 2014 , got qualified to world championship in Italy in 2018

Mohamed Slaise

Photographs

Best known for his passion for pearling, Mohamed has been an active pearl diver for over 15 years. In the last decade, he has led hundreds of pearl diving excursions and has assisted various organisations in Bahrain in documenting the kingdom’s pearling cultural heritage. His passion for the sea is felt by everyone that crosses paths with him and hence it comes to no surprise that when he is not diving, he is busy working on nature conservation projects and loves wildlife and bird photography.

Basma AlHashimi

Photographs

Basma is a Landscape, Cityscape and Time-lapse photographer from Bahrain. Largely self-taught, she developed an interest in photography in 2010 and transformed that interest into a hobby and later into a passion. Basma dabbled in various niches of photography before specialising in landscapes and cityscapes in 2016. More recently, the pandemic kickstarted a phase of personal growth and development for her, which enabled her to perfect her craft and sparked her passion for time-lapse photography.

Ali Aman

Ali Aman is the founder of New Way Diving & Sea Tours. During the day he is an Environmental Inspector at the Supreme Council for Environment with a Chemical Engineering background and outside work, he is busy diving the waters of Bahrain. Ali is a PADI certified Scuba Diving Instructor and an Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor. His main interests include underwater photography/videography, technical diving and raising awareness on the marine environment.

Melanie Münzner

Melanie Münzner is an archaeologist and cultural heritage expert, who has been working for various institutions including the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), the German Archaeological Institute, the Institute for Heritage Management, and Think Heritage Consultancy. Throughout her career, she supervised and co-authored numerous World Heritage nominations, management plans, and Heritage Impact Assessments in Europe and the Middle East. Melanie Münzner holds qualifications in Near Eastern Archaeology (B.A.) and World Heritage Studies (M.A.) and is currently preparing her Ph.D. thesis. She is also a member of ICOMOS Bahrain.
